mgroup is a dba for a sole proprietorship owned by Thomas J Morahan, a Professional Geologist in the States of Wyoming and New York. As mgroup's Principal Scientist, Tom was raised in Elizabeth, directly across a tidal channel from New York City used to ship oil and chemicals into and out of New Jersey. He spent much of the warmer months at a bungalow on a stretch of beach placed a few hundreds yards between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. At a very young age, the contrast between the chemical alleys and the pristine barrier islands made up his mind that taking care of our water would be a life long mission. With a natural affinity for chemistry, the choice to study geology and the earth sciences was an easy one. Tom went on to become a court-qualified expert in Geology, Chemistry, Geochemistry and Hydrogeology in support of environmental affairs. Starting by investigating toxic waste sites across New Jersey, New York and Puerto Rico, he has worked all over the world in support of environmental programs for some of the world's largest and most forward-thinking companies. He now lives in the sustainability-driven Niagara Frontier of Western New York, a place with the world's biggest clean water lakes and an endless supply of hydroelectricity, where he supports the renaissance of downtown industrial Buffalo. And, he still spends a lot of time at the Jersey Shore, marveling at its environmental recovery. As a successful entrepreneur in the environmental consulting business, he recently founded mgroup to offer his unique skills and experience to a wider variety of engineering consulting firms familiar with his work.
